PMWJ H.B. 3105 75(R)BILL ANALYSIS JUDICIAL AFFAIRS H.B. 3105 By: Craddick 4-16-97 Committee Report (Unamended) BACKGROUND In previous legislation passed last session, amendments to the Texas Government Code included the creation of the 385th Judicial District but failed to ensure that the judge of the 385th District Court receive the same supplemental compensation as the other three district judges in Midland County. PURPOSE This bill would ensure that the judge of the 385th District Court is entitled to receive the same supplemental compensation as the other three district judges of Midland County. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or institution. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1 amends Section 32.165(a) and (c), Government Code. Subsec. (a). The Commissioner's Court of Midland County shall pay the judges of the district courts having jurisdiction in the county an annual supplemental salary in an amount that complies with Section 659.012(c) for services rendered. Subsec. (c). The supplemental salary shall be paid in monthly installments from the general fund or other available funds of the county. SECTION 2. Effective date. SECTION 3. Emergency clause.
