BACKGROUND 

 At present, the Rusk County court at law has jurisdiction in family law
cases and proceedings. This bill would allow their jurisdiction to include
civil cases.  This addition would assist the district court in Rusk County
with cases dealing in contract or tort law.  


PURPOSE

 To provide concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in family law
cases and civil cases in the county court at law in Rusk County. 


RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or
institution. 


SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 SECTION 1 amends Section 25.2032(a) of the Government Code to add
concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in civil cases.  

 SECTION 2.   Emergency clause.  Effective date.
