CJ H.B. 3550 75(R)BILL ANALYSIS

JUVENILE JUSTICE & FAMILY ISSUES
H.B. 3550
BY: JUNELL
4-17-97
Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND

During the 71st Legislature, the laws on juvenile boards were placed in
Chapter 152, Human Resources Code. These laws included specific
provisions applicable some counties. Concho county was not included and
must therefore operate under different rules than the other six counties
covered by that area's District Courts. This has created several problems
throughout the years.

PURPOSE

H.B. 3550 will align the laws governing the juvenile board of Concho
county with those of its surrounding counties, Tom Green, Runnels, Coke,
Sterling, Irion and Schleicher.

RULE MAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or
institution.

more than $600 to the board chairman, and not more than $300 to the other
