DIGEST 

Currently, Burnet County does not have a statutorily created county court
at law.  As the county's population continues to grow, so do the
responsibilities and caseload faced by the county's judicial system.  This
bill will create a statutory county court in Burnet County. 

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 3557 creates a statutory county court in Burnet County.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Chapter 25C, Government Code, by adding Sections 25.0291
and 25.0292, as follows: 

Sec.  25.0291.  BURNET COUNTY.  Provides that Burnet County has one
statutory county court, the County Court at Law of Burnet County. 

Sec.  25.0292.  BURNET COUNTY COURT AT LAW PROVISIONS.  Provides that
Section 25.0003(c) does not apply to a county court at law in Burnet
County. 

SECTION 2. Provides that the County Court at Law of Burnet County is
created. 
  Effective date: September 1, 1997.

SECTION 3. Emergency clause.
