DIGEST 

During the 74th Legislative Session, H.B. 3214 was passed, creating a
statutory county court in Bee County.  The legislation provided that the
court would be created by January 1, 1998, or on an earlier date
determined by the Bee County Commissioners Court.  H.B. 3559 extends the
deadline for the creation of the Bee County Court at Law from January 1,
1998 to January 1, 2000.   

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 3559 extends the deadline for the creation of the County
Court at Law of Bee County. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 2, Chapter 702, Acts of the 74th Legislature,
Regular Session, 1995, to provide that, notwithstanding Section 25.0151,
Government Code, as added by this Act, the County Court at Law of Bee
County is created January 1, 2000, or on an earlier date determined by the
commissioners court by an order entered in its minutes.  Deletes existing
text regarding the January 1, 1998 deadline.   

SECTION 2. Emergency clause.
  Effective date:  upon passage.
