TWT H.B. 3570 75(R)BILL ANALYSIS TRANSPORTATION H.B. 3570 By: Jones, Delwin 4-24-97 Committee Report (Unamended) BACKGROUND Currently, length limitations for vehicles (Sec. 621.203, Transportation Code) and vehicle combinations (Sec. 621.205, Transportation Code) are set at a maximum of 65 feet. Businesses involved in custom harvesting are finding it difficult to stay within this length limitation because the size of combine machines has increased. PURPOSE H.B. 3570 amends Section 622.902, Transportation Code, regarding length exceptions by providing that a vehicle or a combination of vehicles used to transport a combine that is used in farm custom harvesting may have an overall length of 75 feet. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or institution. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 622.902, Transportation Code, to include a vehicle or combination of vehicles used to transport a combine that is used in farm custom harvesting operations on a farm if the overall length of the vehicle or combination is not longer than 75 feet. SECTION 2. Emergency clause. Effective upon passage.
