DIGEST

Ensuring that health care is available to Texans is important to the
economic growth of the state. In light of the changes occurring in health
care financing delivery, it is important to incorporate disease prevention
and health promotion into medical practice. This resolution encourages
certain universities to explore innovative solutions to health problems.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.C.R. 64 submits the following resolution:

That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas direct the Texas
Department of Health, with the cooperation of certain schools, to study
the initiation of pilot programs that would create public health
fellowships for practicing physicians.

That the secretary of state forward an official copy of this resolution to
the chancellors of the University of Texas System, Texas Tech University,
the Texas A&M University System, the University of North Texas, Baylor
College of Medicine; and to the commissioner of health of the Texas
Department of Health.
