DIGEST

The State of Texas, like most other states, has traditionally recognized a
variety of symbols that are characteristic of the state's history,
culture, and heritage. Because the sweet onion was first developed in
Texas with the varietal called the 1015 onion, this resolution would add
the Texas sweet onion to the list as the state's official vegetable.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.C.R. 148 submits the following resolution:

To designate the Texas sweet onion as the Official State Vegetable of
Texas and recognize the historic and cultural significance of this native
herb.
