DIGEST

Currently, the Office of District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District
(Carson, Childress, Collingsworth, Donley, and Hall counties) is funded
outside the Professional Prosecutors Act. The Professional Prosecutors Act
would entitle the district attorney for the 100th Judicial District to
receive compensation and operate the office as a professional, full-time
prosecutor. This bill would provide that Chapter 46, Government Code,
relating to the applicability of the Professional Prosecutors Act, include
the district attorneys of the 100th judicial district.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 219 provides that Chapter 46, Government Code, relating
to the applicability of the Professional Prosecutors Act, applies to
district attorneys of the 100th judicial district, among others.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
