DIGEST 

Currently, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (board) is
authorized to contract with Texas Chiropractic College and Parker College
of Chiropractic only if a public school of chiropractic is not
established.  This bill authorizes the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board to contract with Texas Chiropractic College and Parker College of
Chiropractic without restriction. 

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 338 authorizes the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board to contract with Texas Chiropractic College and Parker College of
Chiropractic. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 61.772, Education Code, to delete Subsection
(b), prohibiting the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board from
contracting with Texas Chiropractic College and Parker College of
Chiropractic if a public school of chiropractic is established.  Makes a
conforming change.   

SECTION 2. Emergency clause.
  Effective date:  upon passage.
