DIGEST

Currently, children who are eligible for adoption are spending over 40
months in foster care before they are placed in an adoptive home. The
Department of Protective and Regulatory Services (DPRS)
has limited staff to recruit, study, and place children with potential
adoptive families. This bill provides for a monetary incentive to be
given to any licensed child-placing agency that successfully assists in
the adoption of a child in the care of DPRS.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 670 provides for a monetary incentive to be given to any
licensed child-placing agency that successfully assists in the adoption of
a child in the care of the Department of Protective and Regulatory
Services.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
