DIGEST

Currently, transporting a forklift by attaching it to the rear of a
semi-trailer would constitute a violation of Section 621C, Transportation
Code. Although this is a safe way to transport a forklift, it is still a
violation of the law. S.B. 977 authorizes a trailer to carry a load that
extends more than four feet beyond the rear of the trailer if the load
consists of a motor vehicle that meets certain provisions.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 977 authorizes a trailer to carry a load that extends
more than four feet beyond the rear of the trailer if the load consists of
a motor vehicle that meets certain provisions.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
