DIGEST

Currently, crime statistics are growing with the growth in population in
Leon and Madison counties. Both these counties are sharing a district
attorney. This system using a multi-county prosecutor is unworkable, as
there is a backlog of cases. This bill creates a separate district
attorney for both Leon and Madison counties.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1013 creates a separate district attorney for both Leon
and Madison counties.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
