Committee Report (Substituted)

DIGEST

Currently, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation implements the
boiler inspection program, which requires power boilers and other unfired
steam boilers to be inspected internally and externally by certified
inspectors every 12 months. However, the commissioner of licensing and
regulation and an authorized inspection agency may jointly approve
extensions of the inspection interval to a period of 24 months for power
boilers and 60 months for other unfired steam boilers. This legislation
increases the length of the allowable inspection interval extension to 48
months for power boilers and 84 months for unfired steam boilers.

PURPOSE

As proposed, C.S.S.B. 1065 establishes the interval between internal
inspections of certain boilers.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
