DIGEST 

Currently, a polling place may be located in any structure, whether
stationary or movable, as directed by the authority establishing the
branch office.  This bill deletes the provision allowing a polling place
to located in any movable structure. 

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1084 authorizes a polling place to be located in any
stationary structure. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 85.062(b), Election Code, to authorize a polling
place to be located in any stationary structure, rather that any structure
stationary or movable, as directed by the authority establishing the
branch office.   

SECTION 2. Effective date:  September 1, 1997.

SECTION 3. Emergency clause.
