DIGEST

Currently, Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) was recently added to
the A&M University System, but was not given status as a branch campus of
Texas A&M University at College Station. S.B. 1219 would give TAMUG
status as a branch campus, thereby facilitating integration of technology
systems, enhanced recruiting abilities, and access for TAMUG to coastal
resources for graduate research.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1219 outlines provisions regarding the power of the
board of regents of the Texas A&M University System to designate Texas A&M
University at Galveston as a branch campus of Texas A&M University.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
