Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND

Currently, certain provisions apply relating to the exemption from
inscription requirements for an automobile used by certain persons. In
some instances, medical examiners may use vehicles or equipment for county
business rather than the occurrence of an actual death. This bill exempts
a medical examiner who uses an automobile to perform an official duty from
placing seals on both sides of the vehicle or equipment.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1233 exempts a medical examiner who uses an automobile
to perform an official duty from placing seals on both sides of the
vehicle or equipment.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or
institution.

provide that an automobile is exempt from the requirements of Section
721.004 when used to perform an official duty by certain persons,
including a medical examiner. Makes a conforming change.

SECTION 2. Emergency clause.
  Effective date: upon passage.
