In some instances, medical examiners may use vehicles or equipment for county business rather than the occurrence of an actual death. This bill exempts a medical examiner who uses an automobile to perform an official duty from placing seals on both sides of the vehicle or equipment. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 1233 exempts a medical examiner who uses an automobile to perform an official duty from placing seals on both sides of the vehicle or equipment. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Sections 721.005(a) and (b), Transportation Code, to provide that an automobile is exempt from the requirements of Section 721.004 when used to perform an official duty by certain persons, including a medical examiner. Makes a conforming change. SECTION 2. Emergency clause. Effective date: upon passage.
