DIGEST

Currently, Texas law provides that in a county with two or more Family
District Courts, a judge from one of the courts must serve as chairman of
the juvenile board of that county. In Fort Bend County, however, the
Family District Courts are not responsible for the juvenile dockets in
that county. S.B. 1298 would authorize the Juvenile Board of Fort Bend
County to select a chairman from its members.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1298 outlines provisions regarding the selection of the
chairman of the juvenile board in Fort Bend County.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
