C.S.S.B. 1624 would require the applying employee to submit documentation of the illness or injury necessitating the withdrawal of time from the pool. PURPOSE As proposed, C.S.S.B. 1624 outlines provisions regarding the use and management of the state employee sick leave pool. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 661.005, Government Code, to require an employee to provide the sick leave pool administrator with a written statement from the licensed practitioner who is treating the employee or the employee's immediate family member if the employee is seeking permission to withdraw time because of a catastrophic illness or injury. Requires the statement to provide sufficient information regarding the illness or injury to enable the pool administrator to evaluate the employee's eligibility. Makes a conforming change. SECTION 2. Amends Section 661.006, Government Code, to prohibit an employee from withdrawing time from the sick leave pool except in the case of catastrophic illness or injury of the employee or the employee's immediate family. Makes a conforming change. SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 1997. SECTION 4. Emergency clause. SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE CHANGES SECTION 2.
