Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND

Texans were deeply saddened by the passing of the Honorable Frank M.
Tejeda, Jr., on January 30, 1997, at the age of 51. Congressman Tejeda
lived a distinguished life of service to his state and country, first as a
decorated Marine and later as a scholar and elected public servant.
Congressman Tejeda was also a dedicated father to his three children and
an active member of his community, often contributing his time to
community organizations.

PURPOSE

In honor of the late Congressman Frank M. Tejeda's distinguished life and
unyielding service to others, S.B. 1849 would designate a portion of
United States Highway 281 in Bexar County as the Congressman Frank M.
Tejeda Memorial Highway.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or
institution.
