C.S.S.B. 1851 redefines "regional collegiate athletic association" to include these conferences. PURPOSE As proposed, C.S.S.B. 1851 redefines "regional collegiate athletic association." RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 131.001, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, to redefine "regional collegiate athletic association" as a regional collegiate athletic association with one or more, rather than a majority, of its member institutions in Texas. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 1997. SECTION 3. Emergency clause. SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE CHANGES SECTION 3. Amends emergency clause to delete effective date.
