DIGEST

Currently, affordable housing remains a critical community infrastructure
need across Texas. Federal housing programs have endured deep budgetary
cuts, increasing the states' and cities' responsibility for providing
decent affordable housing for low-income and moderate-income families.
S.C.R. 58 directs the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to
establish an Intergovernmental Task Force on Housing Investment to examine
potential investment products for affordable housing.

Housing and Community Affairs to establish an Intergovernmental Task Force
on Housing Investment (task force) to examine potential investment
products for affordable housing.

Provides that the task force is composed of certain persons from certain
entities.

Requires the task force to be staffed by the Texas Department of Housing
and Community Affairs.

Requires the task force to submit a full report, including findings and
recommendations, to the 76th Legislature when it convenes in January 1999.

Provides that the secretary of state forward an official copy of this
resolution to the executive director of the Texas Department of Housing
and Community Affairs.
