SRC-JRN S.C.R. 58 75(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.C.R. 58 By: Ellis State Affairs 4-28-97 As Filed DIGEST Currently, affordable housing remains a critical community infrastructure need across Texas. Federal housing programs have endured deep budgetary cuts, increasing the states' and cities' responsibility for providing decent affordable housing for low-income and moderate-income families. S.C.R. 58 directs the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to establish an Intergovernmental Task Force on Housing Investment to examine potential investment products for affordable housing. PURPOSE As proposed, S.C.R. 58 submits the following resolutions: Provides that the 75th Legislature hereby direct the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to establish an Intergovernmental Task Force on Housing Investment (task force) to examine potential investment products for affordable housing. Provides that the task force is composed of certain persons from certain entities. Requires the task force to be staffed by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Requires the task force to submit a full report, including findings and recommendations, to the 76th Legislature when it convenes in January 1999. Provides that the secretary of state forward an official copy of this resolution to the executive director of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
