SRC-JRN S.C.R. 74 75(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.C.R. 74 By: Bivins Education 4-22-97 As Filed DIGEST Because health care is a great concern to Texans, a statewide task force has analyzed how the Texas A&M University System might better address the health care needs of Texans. This resolution links existing health care programs within the state into a single administrative unit through the Texas A&M University System. PURPOSE As proposed, S.C.R. 74 links existing health care programs within the state into a single administrative unit through the Texas A&M University System. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS As proposed, S.C.R. 74 submits the following resolutions: To provide that the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas supports the desire of the board of regents of the Texas A&M University System to combine the Baylor College of Dentistry, the Texas A&M University College of Medicine, the Texas A&M University Institute of Biosciences and Biotechnology, and the Texas A&M University School of Rural Public Health into a unified administrative structure, to be named the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, headquartered in College Station, which will maintain an affiliation with Texas A&M University affiliated health-education programs.
