SRC-MAX S.C.R. 75 75(R)BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research CenterS.C.R. 75 By: West Education 5-1-97 Committee Report (Amended) DIGEST The southern region of Dallas County and other adjacent counties continue to experience rapid population growth while access to adequate upper-level public education for the residents of this region remains minimal. This bill creates an institute for higher education to be located in the southern portion of the County of Dallas. PURPOSE As proposed, S.C.R. 75 submits the following resolutions: To authorize the creation of a commission to study the creation of an institution of higher education to be located in the southern portion of the County of Dallas. Sets forth requirements for the composition of the commission. Requires the commission to study the feasibility of and submit a recommendation concerning the creation of an upper-level institution of higher education to be located in the southern portion of the County of Dallas. Requires the study report to address certain issues. Provides that the commission submit its recommendation to the lieutenant governor and the speaker of the house of representative by September 1, 1998. SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE CHANGES Amendment 1.
