Committee Report (Amended)

DIGEST

Currently, Texas law requires the legislature to pass concurrent
resolutions to name state-owned buildings. In the 73rd Legislative
Session, the General Services Commission Sunset bill included a provision
for the purchase and renovation of a state office building in McLennan
County--the Raleigh Building in Waco. This resolution authorizes the
Raleigh Building to be named the Raleigh Hotel/Abner McCall Building in
honor of one of the state's most beloved citizens.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.C.R. 85 submits the following resolution:

That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby direct that the
Raleigh Building in Waco be named the Raleigh Hotel/Abner McCall Building
in honor of one of the state's most beloved leaders and citizens; and

That the secretary of the state forward an official copy of this
resolution to the executive director of the General Services Commission.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE CHANGES

Amendment 1.

Page 3, line 14, changes the name of the building from the Abner McCall
