                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-1 AN ACT

1-2 relating to the jurisdiction of the Anderson County Court at Law.

1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-4 SECTION 1. Section 25.0032(a), Government Code, as added by

1-5 Chapter 148, Acts of the 70th Legislature, Regular Session, 1987,

1-6 is amended to read as follows:

1-7 (a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section

1-8 25.0003 and other law, a county court at law in Anderson County

 1-9 has:

1-10 (1) concurrent jurisdiction with the district court

1-11 in:

1-12 (A) probate matters and proceedings, including

1-13 will contests; [and]

1-14                       (B)  family law cases and proceedings;

1-15 (C) criminal cases; and

1-17 Title 9, Property Code; and

1-18 (2) concurrent jurisdiction with the county and

1-19 district courts over all suits arising under the Family Code.

1-20 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the

1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

2-1 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
