                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to liability insurance provided by a school district for

 1-3     certain purposes.

 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter F, Chapter 29, Education Code, is

 1-6     amended by adding Section 29.186 to read as follows:

 1-7           Sec. 29.186.  INSURANCE.  (a)  The board of trustees of a

 1-8     school district may provide insurance to protect a private employer

 1-9     against liability for a bodily injury sustained by or the death of

1-10     a district student while working for the employer as part of the

1-11     student's career and technology education program.

1-12           (b)  The amount of insurance the district provides must be

1-13     reasonable considering the financial condition of the district.

1-14           (c)  The insurance must be:

1-15                 (1)  from a reliable insurance company authorized to do

1-16     business in this state; and

1-17                 (2)  on a form approved by the commissioner of

1-18     insurance.

1-19           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-20     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-21     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-22     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-23     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-24     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

 2-1     passage, and it is so enacted.
