                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to the width of certain vehicles transporting seed cotton

 1-3     modules.

 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 622.101, Transportation Code, is amended

 1-6     to read as follows:

 1-7           Sec. 622.101.  VEHICLE TRANSPORTING COTTON OR PROCESSING

 1-8     EQUIPMENT.  A single motor vehicle used exclusively to transport

 1-9     seed cotton modules, cotton, or equipment used to transport or

1-10     process cotton, including a burr spreader, may not be operated on a

1-11     highway or road if the vehicle is:

1-12                 (1)  wider than 10 [nine] feet and the highway has not

1-13     been designated by the commission under Section 621.202 if the

1-14     vehicle is registered under Section 502.277;

1-15                 (2)  longer than 48 feet;  or

1-16                 (3)  higher than 14 feet 6 inches.

1-17           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-18     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-19     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-20     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-21     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-22     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

1-23     passage, and it is so enacted.
