 1-7                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-8                                   AN ACT

 1-9     relating to the appointment of an environmental health officer in a

1-10     home-rule municipality.

1-11           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-12           SECTION 1.  Section 341.082(a), Health and Safety Code, is

1-13     amended to read as follows:

1-14           (a)  In a home-rule municipality [with a population of at

1-15     least one million], an environmental health officer may be

1-16     appointed to enforce this chapter.

1-17           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-18     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-19     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-20     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-21     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-22     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

1-23     passage, and it is so enacted.
