A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to providing public notice on release of a sex offender
1-3 into the community.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 3(f), Article 6252-13c.1, Revised
1-6 Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
1-7 (f) The local law enforcement authority shall include in the
1-8 notice by publication in a newspaper the following information
1-9 only:
1-10 (1) the person's full name, age, and gender;
1-11 (2) a brief description of the offense for which the
1-12 person is subject to registration; and
1-13 (3) the municipality, numeric street address [name],
1-14 and zip code number where the person intends to reside.
1-15 SECTION 2. Section 4(g), Article 6252-13c.1, Revised
1-16 Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
1-17 (g) The local law enforcement authority shall include in the
1-18 notice by publication in a newspaper the following information
1-19 only:
1-20 (1) the person's full name, age, and gender;
1-21 (2) a brief description of the offense for which the
1-22 person is subject to registration; and
1-23 (3) the municipality, numeric street address [name],
1-24 and zip code number where the person intends to reside.
2-1 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 1997.
2-2 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
2-3 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-4 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-5 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-6 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
