                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to the designation of certain highways as the future route

 1-3     of La Entrada al Pacifico Corridor.

 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,

 1-6     is amended by adding Section 225.034 to read as follows:

 1-7           Sec. 225.034.  LA ENTRADA AL PACIFICO CORRIDOR.  (a)  The

 1-8     following highways are designated as the future route of La Entrada

 1-9     al Pacifico Corridor:

1-10                 (1)  State Highway 349 from Lamesa to Midland;

1-11                 (2)  Interstate Highway 20 from Midland to Odessa;

1-12                 (3)  United States Highway 385 from Odessa to Fort

1-13     Stockton, including those portions that parallel United States

1-14     Highway 67 and Interstate Highway 10; and

1-15                 (4)  United States Highway 67 from Fort Stockton to

1-16     Presidio, including those portions that parallel Interstate Highway

1-17     10 and United States Highway 90.

1-18           (b)  The department shall design and construct commemorative

1-19     markers to be placed along the corridor indicating the highway

1-20     number, its designation as the future route of La Entrada al

1-21     Pacifico Corridor, and any other appropriate information.

1-22           (c)  The department shall erect a commemorative marker at

1-23     each end of the memorial highway and at intermediate sites along

1-24     the highway that the department determines are appropriate.

 2-1           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

 2-2     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

 2-3     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

 2-4     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

 2-5     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

 2-6     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

 2-7     passage, and it is so enacted.
