 1-7                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-8                                   AN ACT

 1-9     relating to the designation of certain highways as the future route

1-10     of La Entrada al Pacifico Corridor.

1-11           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-12           SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,

1-13     is amended by adding Section 225.034 to read as follows:

1-14           Sec. 225.034.  LA ENTRADA AL PACIFICO CORRIDOR.  (a)  The

1-15     following highways are designated as the future route of La Entrada

1-16     al Pacifico Corridor:

1-17                 (1)  State Highway 349 from Lamesa to Midland;

1-18                 (2)  Interstate Highway 20 from Midland to Odessa;

1-19                 (3)  United States Highway 385 from Odessa to Fort

1-20     Stockton, including those portions that parallel United States

1-21     Highway 67 and Interstate Highway 10; and

1-22                 (4)  United States Highway 67 from Fort Stockton to

1-23     Presidio, including those portions that parallel Interstate Highway

1-24     10 and United States Highway 90.

1-25           (b)  The department shall design and construct commemorative

1-26     markers to be placed along the corridor indicating the highway

1-27     number, its designation as the future route of La Entrada al

1-28     Pacifico Corridor, and any other appropriate information.

1-29           (c)  The department shall erect a commemorative marker at

1-30     each end of the memorial highway and at intermediate sites along

1-31     the highway that the department determines are appropriate.

1-32           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-33     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-34     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-35     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-36     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-37     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

1-38     passage, and it is so enacted.
