A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the reapportionment of certain state representative
1-3 districts.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Sections 131 and 146, Article II, Chapter 2, Acts
1-6 of the 72nd Legislature, 3rd Called Session, 1992, are revised to
1-7 read as follows:
1-8 Sec. 131. District 131 is composed of Harris County tracts
1-9 0334, 0336, 0337, 0340, 0341, 0428.02, 0430.02, 0432.98, 0433.20,
1-10 0433.30, and 0434.02; and that part of Harris County tract 0327.01
1-11 included in block 307; and that part of Harris County tract 0328.02
1-12 included in block group 6 and block 314; and that part of Harris
1-13 County tract 0328.03 included in block groups 3 and 5 and blocks

4-17 SECTION 2. The districts established by this Act apply to
4-18 the election of the members of the Texas House of Representatives
4-19 beginning with the primary and general elections in 1998 for
4-20 members of the 76th Legislature. This Act does not affect the
4-21 membership or districts of the Texas House of Representatives of
4-22 the 75th Legislature.
4-23 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
4-24 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
4-25 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
4-26 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
4-27 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
5-1 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
5-2 passage, and it is so enacted.
