1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to the creation of two county criminal courts in Denton

 1-3     County.

 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 25.0631(a), Government Code, is amended

 1-6     to read as follows:

 1-7           (a)  Denton County has the following statutory county courts:

 1-8                 (1)  County Court at Law No. 1 of Denton County;

 1-9                 (2)  County Criminal Court No. 1 of Denton County;

1-10     [and]

1-11                 (3)  County Criminal Court No. 2 of Denton County;

1-12                 (4)  County Criminal Court No. 3 of Denton County; and

1-13                 (5)  County Criminal Court No. 4 of Denton County.

1-14           SECTION 2.  (a)  This Act takes effect September 1, 1997.

1-15           (b)  The County Criminal Court No. 3 of Denton County is

1-16     created September 1, 1997.

1-17           (c)  Notwithstanding Section 25.0631(a), Government Code, as

1-18     amended by this Act, the County Criminal Court No. 4 of Denton

1-19     County is created September 1, 1998.

1-20           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-21     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-22     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-23     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-24     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
