1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to authorizing the Board of Regents of The University of

 1-3     Texas System to acquire by purchase, exchange, gift, or otherwise

 1-4     certain properties to be used for campus expansion and university

 1-5     purposes in The University of Texas System.

 1-6           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-7           SECTION 1.  The Board of Regents of The University of Texas

 1-8     System is hereby authorized to acquire by purchase, exchange, gift,

 1-9     or otherwise, for campus expansion and for other University

1-10     purposes, all or any part of the land described as:

1-11           1.  A tract of land containing 29.54 acres situated in the

1-12     City of Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas, being part or portion of

1-13     LOT 15, SECTION 242, TEXAS-MEXICAN RAILWAY COMPANY SURVEY,

1-14     according to the map recorded in Volume 1, Page 12, Hidalgo County

1-15     Map Records, said 29.54 acres also being more particularly

1-16     described as follows:

1-17           BEGINNING at the northeast corner of said Lot 15 for the

1-18     northeast corner of this tract;

1-19           THENCE, S 9 05' W along the east line of said Lot 15, a

1-20     distance of 660.00 feet to the easternmost southeast corner of this

1-21     tract;

1-22           THENCE, N 80 55' W a distance of 660.00 feet to an inside

1-23     corner of this tract;

1-24           THENCE, S 9 05' W a distance of 660.20 feet to the centerline

 2-1     of Schunior Road and the south line of said Lot 15, for the

 2-2     southernmost southeast corner of this tract;

 2-3           THENCE, N 80 53' W along the south line of said Lot 15, a

 2-4     distance of 644.40 feet to the Southwest corner of said Lot 15 for

 2-5     the southwest corner of this tract;

 2-6           THENCE, N 9 05' E along the west line of said Lot 15, a

 2-7     distance of 1320.00 feet to the northwest corner of said Lot 15 for

 2-8     the northwest corner of this tract;

 2-9           THENCE, S 80 55' E along the north line of said Lot 15, a

2-10     distance of 1305.50 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING, and containing

2-11     29.54 acres of land, more or less.

2-12           2.  Lots One (1), Two (2),  Three(3), Four (4), Five (5), Six

2-13     (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), and

2-14     Twelve (12), Block 2; Lots One (1), Two (2),  Three(3), Four (4),

2-15     Five (5),and Six (6), Block 3; Lots One (1), Two (2),  Three(3),

2-16     Four (4), and Five (5), Block 4; and Lots One (1), Two (2),

2-17     Three(3), Four (4), Five (5), Six (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine

2-18     (9), and Ten (10), Block 5, HUGHES SUBDIVISION, adjacent to the

2-19     City of Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas, according to the map

2-20     recorded in Volume 9, Page 34, Map Records of Hidalgo County,

2-21     Texas, and all streets, alleys, alleyways, thoroughfares, and real

2-22     property, whether or not vacated, specifically including but not

2-23     limited to all those portions of Cooper and Elizabeth Streets,

2-24     lying adjacent to any such lots.

2-25           3.  Lots One (1), Two (2), Three(3), Four (4), Five (5), Six

2-26     (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), and

2-27     Twelve (12), Block 1; Lots One (1), Two (2), Three(3), Four (4),

 3-1     Five (5), Six (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven

 3-2     (11), and Twelve (12), Block 2; Lots One (1), Two (2),  Three(3),

 3-3     Four (4), Five (5), Six (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten

 3-4     (10), Eleven (11), and Twelve (12), Block 3; and Lots One (1), Two

 3-5     (2),  Three(3), Four (4), Five (5), Six (6), Seven (7), Eight (8),

 3-6     Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), and Twelve (12), Block 4; KRUGER

 3-7     SUBDIVISION, being the subdivision of all of Lot 1 and the North 5

 3-8     acres of Lot 11 of Subdivision "J" out of Tex-Mex Survey No. 273,

 3-9     Hidalgo County, Texas, according to the map recorded in Volume 9,

3-10     Page 5, Map Records of Hidalgo County, Texas, and all streets,

3-11     alleys, alleyways, thoroughfares, whether or not vacated,

3-12     specifically including but not limited to all those portions of

3-13     First, Second, Third and Fourth Avenues lying adjacent to any such

3-14     lots.

3-15           4.  Lots One (1), Two (2),  Three(3), Four (4), Five (5), Six

3-16     (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), and

3-17     Twelve (12), Block 93, EDINBURGH ORIGINAL TOWNSITE, according to

3-18     the map recorded in Volume 1, Page 3, Map Records of Hidalgo

3-19     County, Texas, and all streets, alleys, alleyways, thoroughfares,

3-20     whether or not vacated, specifically including but not limited to

3-21     all those portions of Cooper and Elizabeth Streets, lying adjacent

3-22     to any such lots.

3-23           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

3-24     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

3-25     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

3-26     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

3-27     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

 4-1     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

 4-2     passage, and it is so enacted.
