1-1 AN ACT

1-2 relating to certain activities allowed during the suspension of a

1-3 license issued under the Private Investigators and Private Security

 1-4 Agencies Act.

1-5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-6 SECTION 1. Section 47, Private Investigators and Private

1-7 Security Agencies Act (Article 4413(29)(bb), Vernon's Texas Civil

1-8 Statutes), is amended to read as follows:

1-9 Sec. 47. ACTIVITY DURING SUSPENSION OF LICENSE. A suspended

1-10 license is subject to expiration and shall be renewed as provided

1-11 in this Act, but such renewal does not entitle the licensee, while

1-12 the license remains suspended and until it is reinstated, to engage

1-13 in the licensed activity, or in any other activity or conduct in

1-14 violation of the order or judgment by which the license was

1-15 suspended except that a licensee may continue to perform monitoring

1-16 of existing alarm contracts or continue to contract for the

1-17 monitoring of existing alarm contracts for 30 days following the

1-18 suspension.

1-19 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the

1-20 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-21 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-22 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-23 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
