No. 2880 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 12, 1997; 1-3 May 13, 1997, read first time and referred to Committee on State 1-4 Affairs; May 18, 1997, reported favorably by the following vote: 1-5 Yeas 12, Nays 0; May 18, 1997, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to certain activities allowed during the suspension of a 1-9 license issued under the Private Investigators and Private Security 1-10 Agencies Act. 1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-12 SECTION 1. Section 47, Private Investigators and Private 1-13 Security Agencies Act (Article 4413(29)(bb), Vernon's Texas Civil 1-14 Statutes), is amended to read as follows: 1-15 Sec. 47. ACTIVITY DURING SUSPENSION OF LICENSE. A suspended 1-16 license is subject to expiration and shall be renewed as provided 1-17 in this Act, but such renewal does not entitle the licensee, while 1-18 the license remains suspended and until it is reinstated, to engage 1-19 in the licensed activity, or in any other activity or conduct in 1-20 violation of the order or judgment by which the license was 1-21 suspended except that a licensee may continue to perform monitoring 1-22 of existing alarm contracts or continue to contract for the 1-23 monitoring of existing alarm contracts for 30 days following the 1-24 suspension. 1-25 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-26 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-27 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-28 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-29 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-30 * * * * *
