1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-7 AN ACT

1-8 relating to certain activities allowed during the suspension of a

1-9 license issued under the Private Investigators and Private Security

1-10 Agencies Act.

1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-12 SECTION 1. Section 47, Private Investigators and Private

1-13 Security Agencies Act (Article 4413(29)(bb), Vernon's Texas Civil

1-14 Statutes), is amended to read as follows:

1-15 Sec. 47. ACTIVITY DURING SUSPENSION OF LICENSE. A suspended

1-16 license is subject to expiration and shall be renewed as provided

1-17 in this Act, but such renewal does not entitle the licensee, while

1-18 the license remains suspended and until it is reinstated, to engage

1-19 in the licensed activity, or in any other activity or conduct in

1-20 violation of the order or judgment by which the license was

1-21 suspended except that a licensee may continue to perform monitoring

1-22 of existing alarm contracts or continue to contract for the

1-23 monitoring of existing alarm contracts for 30 days following the

1-24 suspension.

1-25 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the

1-26 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-27 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-28 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-29 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
