1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the registration of certain golf carts.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 502.284, Transportation Code, is amended
1-5 to read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 502.284. GOLF CARTS. (a) An owner of a golf cart
1-7 driven to and from a golf course is not required to register the
1-8 golf cart.
1-9 (b) If an owner of a golf cart resides on real property that
1-10 is owned or under the control of the United States Corps of
1-11 Engineers and is required by that agency to register the owner's
1-12 golf cart under this chapter, the fee for registering the golf cart
1-13 is $10. This subsection applies only to an owner of a golf cart
1-14 who resides in a county that borders another state and has a
1-15 population of more than 95,000 but less than 100,000.
1-16 (c) Subsection (b) does not authorize the operation of a
1-17 golf cart on a public road where otherwise prohibited by law.
1-18 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-19 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-20 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-21 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-22 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-23 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-24 passage, and it is so enacted.
