                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to the contents of an officially prescribed form for an

 1-3     application for employment with the State of Texas.

 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5           SECTION 1.  Chapter 651, Government Code, is amended by

 1-6     adding Section 651.004 to read as follows:

 1-7           Sec. 651.004.  WARNING REQUIRED ON OFFICIAL APPLICATION FORM

 1-8     FOR STATE EMPLOYMENT.  An officially prescribed form for an

 1-9     application for employment with the State of Texas must include a

1-10     warning that notifies the applicant of the penalty for making a

1-11     false entry in a governmental record under Section 37.10, Penal

1-12     Code.

1-13           SECTION 2.  (a)  This Act takes effect September 1, 1997.

1-14           (b)  The change in law made by this Act applies only to an

1-15     official employment application form that is prescribed, printed,

1-16     or reprinted on or after the effective date of this Act.

1-17           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-18     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-19     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-20     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-21     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
