No. 3246 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 8, 1997; 1-3 May 9, 1997, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 International Relations, Trade, and Technology; May 15, 1997, 1-5 reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 6, Nays 0; 1-6 May 15, 1997, sent to printer.) 1-7 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-8 AN ACT 1-9 relating to designation of Spur 239 in Val Verde County. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Spur 239 in Val Verde County is designated as the 1-12 Sergio Gonzalez, Jr., and Alfredo Gutierrez, Jr., M.D. Loop. 1-13 SECTION 2. (a) The Texas Department of Transportation shall 1-14 design and construct markers to be placed along Loop 239 in Val 1-15 Verde County indicating its designation as the Sergio Gonzalez, 1-16 Jr., and Alfredo Gutierrez, Jr., M.D. Loop. 1-17 (b) The markers shall include the highway number and any 1-18 other information that the department determines is appropriate. 1-19 (c) The department shall erect a marker at each end of the 1-20 loop and at intermediate sites along the loop that the department 1-21 determines are appropriate. 1-22 (d) The department is responsible for repair and replacement 1-23 of the markers and for maintenance of the grounds surrounding each 1-24 marker. 1-25 (e) The department may accept grants and donations from 1-26 individuals and other entities to assist in financing the 1-27 construction and maintenance of the markers. 1-28 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-29 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-30 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-31 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-32 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-33 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-34 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-35 * * * * *
