                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to the application of the open meetings law to judges

 1-3     performing management functions.

 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 551.001(3), Government Code, is amended

 1-6     by adding the following:

 1-7                       (I)  a nonprofit corporation organized under

 1-8     Chapter 76, Acts of the 43rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, 1933

 1-9     (Article 1434a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), that provides a

1-10     water supply or wastewater service, or both, and is exempt from ad

1-11     valorem taxation under Section 11.30, Tax Code; and

1-12                       (J)  a district judge in the performance of the

1-13     judge's management functions in connection with a community

1-14     supervision and corrections department, or a gathering of a group

1-15     of district judges in the performance of those judges' management

1-16     or administrative functions.

1-17           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-18     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-19     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-20     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-21     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-22     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

1-23     passage, and it is so enacted.
