No. 3279 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House April 21, 1997; 1-3 April 23, 1997, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Economic Development; May 18, 1997, reported favorably by the 1-5 following vote: Yeas 10, Nays 0; May 18, 1997, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to charges for access to Texas Workers' Compensation 1-9 Commission information. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Section 402.081, Labor Code, is amended by adding 1-12 Subsection (d) to read as follows: 1-13 (d) The commission may charge a reasonable fee for making 1-14 available for inspection any of its information that contains 1-15 confidential information that must be redacted before the 1-16 information is made available. The fee for access to information 1-17 under Chapter 552, Government Code, shall be in accord with the 1-18 rules of the General Services Commission that prescribe the method 1-19 for computing the charge for copies under that chapter. 1-20 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-25 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-26 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-27 * * * * *
