                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-1                                   AN ACT

 1-2     relating to the Hutchinson County Hospital District.

 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-4           SECTION 1.  The Hutchinson County Hospital District:

 1-5                 (1)  shall operate, maintain, manage, and administer

 1-6     ancillary health care facilities;

 1-7                 (2)  may enter into a contract or joint ownership

 1-8     agreement with a public or private entity for:

 1-9                       (A)  district management or operating services;

1-10     or

1-11                       (B)  ownership of certain real or personal

1-12     property;

1-13                 (3)  may enter into a contract with certain

1-14     governmental entities and private or charitable organizations for

1-15     the care, treatment, or welfare needs of certain persons in the

1-16     jurisdiction of those governmental entities or organizations; and

1-17                 (4)  may invest district assets in certain investment

1-18     vehicles and funds.

1-19           SECTION 2.  The Hutchinson County Hospital District is

1-20     governed by a board of seven directors, four of whom are elected

1-21     and three of whom are appointed.

1-22           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-23     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-24     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

 2-1     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

 2-2     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

 2-3     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

 2-4     passage, and it is so enacted.
