1-1 AN ACT

1-2 relating to the terms of the directors of the Seis Lagos Utility

 1-3 District.

1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 5(e), Chapter 527, Acts of the 71st

1-7 (e) The district shall hold an election in the district on

1-8 the first Saturday in May of each even-numbered year to elect the

1-9 appropriate number of directors to the board. Directors serve

1-10 staggered four-year [two-year] terms [with the terms of two

1-11 directors expiring each odd-numbered year and the terms of three

1-12 directors expiring each even-numbered year]. Directors serve until

1-13 their successors are elected and have qualified.

1-14 SECTION 2. (a) The terms of the two directors elected at

1-15 the May 1995 election expire on the first Saturday in May 1998 as

1-16 provided by Section 50(b), Chapter 715, Acts of the 74th

1-17 Legislature, Regular Session, 1995.

1-18 (b) The terms of the three directors elected in May 1996

1-21 (c) The directors elected at the election held on the first

1-22 Saturday in May 1998 and in subsequent even-numbered years serve

1-23 four-year terms.

1-24 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the

2-1 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

2-2 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

2-3 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

2-4 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

2-5 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

2-6 passage, and it is so enacted.
