HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Kasey Lynn Griffith on

 1-2     December 30, 1996, at the age of 14, has brought a great loss to

 1-3     the family and many friends of this beloved young woman; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Although Miss Griffith's time here was all too

 1-5     short, she touched the lives of many people, and the outpouring of

 1-6     support that came in her time of need is a testament to the

 1-7     profound effect she had on those around her; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Like many of her peers, Miss Griffith had a strong

 1-9     interest in music, and she could often be found singing along with

1-10     her favorite songs or practicing her drums; she had an unusual gift

1-11     for taking things apart and reassembling them, and she balanced her

1-12     mechanical pursuits with artistic endeavors as well, earning a

1-13     reputation as a promising sketch artist; and

1-14           WHEREAS, This outgoing teenager made numerous friends at Zion

1-15     Christian School and all the other schools she attended, and she

1-16     spent many hours with her classmates enjoying such fun diversions

1-17     as shopping and playing video games; yet Kasey was also a devoted

1-18     sister, and Kim, Hollis Ashley, Kerri, and Lindsey will undoubtedly

1-19     treasure the time they spent with her; and

1-20           WHEREAS, While it is especially difficult to say goodbye to

1-21     one so young and full of promise, Kasey Griffith's loved ones may

1-22     take solace in the life that others have found through her final

1-23     act of giving; Kasey's generosity and kindness will not be

1-24     forgotten, and her unique spirit will surely live on in the hearts

 2-1     and minds of all who were fortunate to know her; now, therefore, be

 2-2     it

 2-3           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

 2-4     hereby pay tribute to the life of Kasey Lynn Griffith and extend

 2-5     sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her mother, Linda

 2-6     Griffith; to her father and stepmother, Jeff and Sandy Griffith; to

 2-7     her grandparents, Neva Stewart, Floyd Griffith, and Hollis J.

 2-8     Griffith; to her siblings and brother-in-law, Kim Griffith, Hollis

 2-9     Ashley Griffith, Kerri Griffith Cortez and Lupe Cortez, Jr., and

2-10     Lindsey Morgan; to her aunts and uncles, Cathy and Wayne Bohannon,

2-11     and Tammy and Mike Bensing; to her niece, Kayla Cortez; to her

2-12     cousins, Mike Bohannon, Brian Bohannon, Shauna Brown, Becky

2-13     Watkins, and Mark Watkins; and to all the relatives and many

2-14     friends of this remarkable young lady; and, be it further

2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-16     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas

2-17     House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in

2-18     memory of Kasey Lynn Griffith.
