 1-7           WHEREAS, State law requires that a cost-of-living increase in

 1-8     benefits proposed by the Texas Statewide Volunteer Fire Fighters'

 1-9     Retirement Fund board of trustees be approved by the legislature

1-10     before taking effect; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Texas volunteer firefighters risk their lives

1-12     performing a dangerous and vitally important job and deserve a

1-13     cost-of-living adjustment in their pension benefits to keep pace

1-14     with inflation; now, therefore, be it

1-15           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

1-16     hereby approve the cost-of-living increase in benefits for certain

1-17     retirees proposed by the state board of trustees of the Texas

1-18     Statewide Volunteer Fire Fighters' Retirement Fund; and, be it

1-19     further

1-20           RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official

1-21     copy of this resolution to the chair of the state board of trustees

1-22     of the Texas Statewide Volunteer Fire Fighters' Retirement Fund.
