HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, After five years of outstanding service, Anne Farris 1-2 is resigning as superintendent of the De Kalb Independent School 1-3 District, and although she will be missed by her friends and 1-4 colleagues, her exemplary tenure in this post will long be felt by 1-5 the De Kalb community for the lasting legacy of achievement she 1-6 leaves behind; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Educated at East Texas State University in Commerce, 1-8 Ms. Farris began her career in education as an English teacher at 1-9 Hooks High School, and in the years that followed she held a number 1-10 of teaching and counseling positions at public schools throughout 1-11 Bowie County, as well as at Texarkana Community College; and 1-12 WHEREAS, From 1986 to 1991, Ms. Farris served as a principal 1-13 in Lazbuddie, where she embraced the challenge of her new 1-14 responsibilities and garnered valuable administrative experience; 1-15 in 1991 she received her superintendent certification from West 1-16 Texas State University in Canyon and returned home to serve as 1-17 superintendent of the De Kalb Independent School District; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Ms. Farris's skill and dedication have often been 1-19 recognized by her professional peers, and she is a past committee 1-20 chair of the Texas School Counselors Association and has served as 1-21 president of the Northeast Texas Counselor Association; an active 1-22 member of numerous educators' organizations, she was recognized in 1-23 Who's Who in Education in 1987; and 1-24 WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Anne Farris's career as 2-1 a teacher, counselor, and principal has had an incalculable effect 2-2 on the thousands of students and colleagues whose lives she has 2-3 touched, and it is indeed fitting that she be recognized for her 2-4 efforts at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-6 hereby congratulate Anne Farris on a lifetime of superior service 2-7 as an educator and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued 2-8 success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Ms. Farris as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
