                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, Local government is the level of government closest

 1-2     and most accountable to the people, and its efficient and effective

 1-3     administration is the cornerstone of public trust and confidence in

 1-4     government; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, The Urban Management Assistants of North Texas is a

 1-6     professional organization of individuals dedicated to excellence in

 1-7     the management of local government; founded in 1972, the

 1-8     organization acts as a forum for the exchange of ideas and

 1-9     information among assistants in public management while fostering

1-10     the development of their leadership and professional skills, and

1-11     its firm commitment to the council-manager form of government

1-12     creates new opportunities for members of the urban management

1-13     profession; and

1-14           WHEREAS, This combination of successful approaches

1-15     contributes greatly to the popular understanding and resolution of

1-16     local government issues and has helped make the Urban Management

1-17     Assistants of North Texas one of the largest organizations of its

1-18     kind in the United States; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, the

1-20     association receives vital support from its partner and sponsor,

1-21     the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and this fruitful

1-22     alliance has done much to further the goals of both organizations;

1-23     now, therefore, be it

1-24           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

 2-1     hereby recognize the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas as

 2-2     an official urban management assistants association of the region

 2-3     and commend its members for their significant contributions to the

 2-4     administration of local government in Texas; and, be it further

 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-6     prepared for the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas as an

 2-7     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and

 2-8     Senate.
