                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, Waldine Cason has become the first employee in the

 1-2     history of the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas to receive

 1-3     the organization's 40-Year Award, and this singular distinction is

 1-4     truly worthy of special praise and recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Born in Burton, Mrs. Cason attended Carmine High

 1-6     School, and in 1952 joined the TRS team as a clerk; although her

 1-7     husband's reassignment to Nevada took her away from Austin in 1974,

 1-8     she returned to the TRS in 1977 and set about her work with her

 1-9     characteristic energy and dedication; and

1-10           WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of the community,

1-11     Mrs. Cason is also active in a number of organizations, including

1-12     Executive Women in Texas Government and Austin Women and Computing;

1-13     and

1-14           WHEREAS, Mrs. Cason takes great delight in her large and

1-15     loving family, and she and her husband of 26 years, Lamar, are

1-16     doting grandparents to their three grandsons and two

1-17     granddaughters; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Over the years Waldine Cason's exemplary service to

1-19     the Teacher Retirement System of Texas has greatly benefited her

1-20     fellow citizens, and it is indeed fitting that she be recognized at

1-21     this time for her outstanding service; now, therefore, be it

1-22           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

1-23     hereby congratulate Waldine Cason on being the first recipient of

1-24     the Teacher Retirement System of Texas' 40-Year Pin and extend to

 2-1     her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the

 2-2     future; and, be it further

 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-4     prepared for Mrs. Cason as a token of high regard by the Texas

 2-5     House of Representatives and Senate.
